The devoted gardener will find no shortage of lightweight and heavy duty flexible water hoses over at Apex Hose. If this incredible equipment is making gardening feel too easy, try growing some of these famously challenging plants. If you are using a sprinkler system, remember that optimal watering generally takes 60 to 90 minutes. However, for these temperamental varieties, we recommend doing the work by hand, with a commercial garden hose.

  1. Orchids

These plants are essentially synonymous with fragility. They are extremely sensitive to overwatering, needing time for the soil to completely dry before getting watered again. They are temperature-sensitive as well, so unless you live in a climate that generally stays between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, you will most likely need to house your orchids indoors for them to stay alive. Lastly, while they need plentiful sunlight to grow, direct sun exposure can damage the plants.
  2. Azaleas

These gorgeous shrubs turn incredibly sensitive indoors, requiring a number of special steps to grow properly. Vinegar must be added with every watering to maintain the acidic soil they need. Furthermore, while humidity typically accompanies warm weather, indoor azaleas need air that is both humid and cool. Lastly, in contrast to orchids, an azalea's soil must be kept constantly damp.
  3. Cauliflower

Unfortunately, this tasty plant is not so easy to get on your plate yourself. Cauliflowers need a lot of time and just the right weather in order to grow. Start them too early and they mature before the hot weather they need has arrived. If you plant your cauliflower too late, the cold weather of fall will kill it. Additionally, if you fail to tie the leaves so they do not block the plant's head, it will not grow into the food we all know and love.

Need a new commercial garden hose for your next floral challenge? Find one at Apex Hose to ensure that you get the best quality and durability.
